Last weekend’s WA Quit Forest Rally saw Smoothline’s Steve Glenney and Bernie Webb each take victory in seperate sections of the event.
The RallySchool Junior Challenge (RSJC) is a breeding ground for the next generation of rally stars in the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) and young South Australian Dan Day has become the latest round winner to qualify for this prestigious award. Steve Glenney has taken on the role of coach, mentor and co-driver for Dan as he embarks on his motorsport career at the tender age of sixteen. After his RSJC win and an amazing 5th outright in the ARC, Dan is aiming to compete in the remaining rounds before the RSJC final in Coffs Harbour later in the year.
Bernie competed alongside Repco Rally Team’s Mick Patton, another Forest Rally debutant. The pair steered their Group N Subaru to victory in the Permier League and International Cup categories, also collecting 3rd outright for their efforts. This gives Mick an impressive lead in the Premier League and International Cup championships, having taken 2 victories from 2 starts. Mick and Bernie will seek to consolidate their lead when the championshihp heads North in May for the International Rally of Queensland.
