The inaugural Mt. Baw Baw Sprint was run last weekend, with crews encountering treacherous conditions in Victoria’s Alpine Region. Wet weather and unreliable grip levels were the order of the event, conducted on the steepest road in Australia. Footage from the event’s final stage shows an incredible 2-3 inches of water flowing down the road to greet competitors on many corners.

Victory on the weekend was taken by motoring personality Samantha Stevens, alongside co-driver Bernie Webb. Smoothline users also filled two of the next three positions with Steve Spada/Jessica Nicholson and Guy Lilleyman/Steve Glenney taking 2nd and 4th outright respectively. Special mention must also go to Danny Traverso and Matt Kopcheff who set some blistering times before succumbing to the tricky conditions and the local scenery. The Australian Tarmac Championship will now take a 15 week hiatus before heading further east to the spectacular Lakes Entrance for Round 2 and another new event, the Snowy River Sprint.

A full report on Stevens’ win can be found on the Advan Wheels website.
