I have relied on Smoothline Notes for years now, their quality and accuracy never waiver.
I have relied on Smoothline Notes for years now, their quality and accuracy never waiver.
All of my Co-Drivers, including two with extensive International experience have seen the notes as being world class.
Smoothline notes have always been “spot on” and flow seamlessly, with descriptions of the stages and detailed bits of additional information that add to my confidence.
In my mind, one pass of recce using Smoothline notes is a completely viable option saving stress and worry when time is short.
I would sincerely recommend these notes to the experienced and novice driver alike, they have formats available to suit all levels.
I found Smoothline notes to be very consistent and accurate, forming the perfect base
We used Smoothline notes throughout the 2017 season and they undoubtedly were a contributor to our success in the NSW Championship.
I found Smoothline notes to be very consistent and accurate, forming the perfect base that allowed me to make adjustments to suit my needs then commit with confidence. They were particularly useful when recce involved limited passes, as detailed notes could be achieved with just one pass.
It was a comprehensive set of tools to help get the most out of the sport.
Linda and I want to thank Smoothline for getting a package of notes to us at short notice and guiding us through the process of downloading the GPS file into the new Garmin and being there for us when we were learning, sometimes at odd hours.
When our envelope arrived, we soon realised it was not just another bunch of pace notes books. It was a comprehensive set of tools to help get the most out of the sport – a tarmac rally enjoyment service. And even after 32 tarmac rallies over the last 19 years, we really needed everything in there.
An expensive and time consuming part of the sport is the dreaded recce which has often been the source of heated squabbles. There is no second driveway after the red letterbox! …. Why can’t you type the right numbers into the GPS? etc etc.
We now know that Smoothline provide thorough and accurate guidance on what order to do the stages depending on how many days you plan to recce, where the stages are on the map, places to stay, get fuel, have lunch … it’s quite amazing. The GPS takes you easily and efficiently to each stage in order.
Although we know Tassie very well and had made our own plan, we did use some of their recommendations and they were good. Bernie is only a call away for personal help, it amounts to a service which transforms the tedious part of the sport into part of the fun.
Smoothline notes drastically cut down on Recce time making them incredibly cost-effective.
I’ve used Smoothline Stage Notes the whole time I’ve been Rallying in WA.
Their terminology and descriptions are easy to grasp and knowing my notes are accurate and super-consistent gives me extra confidence flying through stage.
It’s easy to see why Smoothline are the choice of many top Rally crews, for the inexperienced pace note writer they’re a must. I’ve seen the notes from other companies and Smoothline notes are by far the best on the market.
I started out using their recommended “Medallion” notes and after a few events moved onto the more detailed Trophy level. Both levels have been easy to understand, very accurate and consistent, and obviously written by professionals.
Both Bernie and Steve are easy to get along with and more than helpful. In my experience Smoothline notes are not only enjoyable to use, they drastically cut down on Recce time making them incredibly cost-effective.
I’m confident that Smoothline notes will be right on the money, every corner, every time.
Smoothline notes have steered Michael Lloyd and myself to many, many stage wins in events both over East and in Targa Tasmania.
I started Rallying in 2007 initially writing my own notes then using sets from a couple of different suppliers. I ended up speaking to a few front-running competitors and was steered toward Smoothline. Their notes really stand out as having have the qualities I need to go quickly and of course compete safely. From the first time I looked at Smoothline notes I haven’t used anyone else’s!
The two guys that write the Smoothline notes, Steve Glenney and Bernie Webb, are among Australia’s elite drivers and co drivers so it makes perfect sense that their notes are professional, accurate and descriptive.
I always like to do a couple of passes of each stage in recce but I’ve spoken to lots of people that are content to run the stages only once, confident that Smoothline notes will be right on the money, every corner, every time.
We use Smoothline notes whenever we can
Thomas and I used Smoothline notes in last year’s Nat Cap Rally and right from the start they made things 100% more enjoyable. They cut recce time down heaps because we weren’t having to stop all the time and make major changes like we’d be doing if we were writing notes ourselves.
Once we were back from recce there wasn’t much to do on the Smoothline Notes whereas we’re normally up all night re-writing and tidying bits up when we write our own.
Thomas used Smoothline notes the year before when he did car zero with another codriver but I wasn’t so sure about it when he suggested using them in competition. We’ve always just written our own and have never had any real problems. After a couple of phone calls to Bernie we decided to give it a go and I’m so glad we did because it took so much stress out of the week.
We’ve been rallying for 25 years and have written notes plenty of times but I’ll use Smoothline notes whenever I can now.
I have been particularly impressed
Brian and I used Smoothline Notes for the first time for Targa Tasmania 2015. With limited time for reconnaissance, we opted to buy these notes and make only one pass of the stages.
We liked the option to decide just how much extra information we wanted with our notes when we ordered them. The notes are well presented making them easy to read in the rally car. There is also a comprehensive glossary of the terms used included.
We were very impressed with the consistency in the notes and how accurately they described the road, corners, where the car should be placed on the road – which is particularly important over crests! Over the course of 38 stages, totaling approximately 500km, we only made a handful of changes to the corner numbers, and these changes were made to slow us down for the following corner, as a personal preference.
As a codriver, I have been particularly impressed with how approachable Smoothline are when I have any queries regarding the notes. I am also impressed with how consistently and accurately Smoothline Notes describe the road ahead. Brian and I look forward to using Smoothline Notes this year.
Fleur Pedersen, codriver for Brian Green
The best notes ever
I have used these notes for many years and they are excellent I trust every corner is accurate .
Just the Best Notes to use
I have been using Smoothline notes now for some 8 or 9 years now and they have always been the best. First started using the basic and now have upgraded some years ago to the “T10” variant
. The most important thing is that the detail is exact and you can always rely on them. Above all else Bernie and Steve are great to deal with and nice guys to boot.
GREAT NOTES
We used smoothline notes for the Adelaide rally and were very highly impressed
with the consistency of the notes and very easy to understand and made recce a walk in the park
